교단 (The United Methodist Church)

본 교회는 “미연합감리교회(United Methodist Church, 이하 UMC)” 소속으로, 본 교단은 존 웨슬리(John Wesley)의 ‘교회 개혁’과 ‘성서적 성결’ 추구의 목표 아래 시작되었습니다. 예수 그리스도를 믿어 구원의 확신에 이르는 개인 경건생활과 세상 속에서 그리스도의 빛과 소금이 되어 하나님 나라 확장을 위한 사회 경건활동을 통해 신앙의 온전함에 이르기를 추구합니다. 현재 900만 신도를 가진 가장 큰 개신교단의 하나이며, 세계 선교에 앞장설 뿐 아니라 세계 평화와 사회 정의, 그리고 소수 민족의 참여를 존중하는 포용성과 진취성이 있는 교단입니다. 또한, 현재 미국 내 100개의 2년제와 4년제 대학교와 13개의 신학대학교, 그리고 400여 개의 병원을 설립, 운영하면서 사회 복지와 차세대 지도자 양성에도 힘쓰고 있습니다.
 

The Green United Methodist Church is a church in the San Jose District of the California-Nevada Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. The United Methodist Church is a Methodist denomination which traces its main root to John Wesley's evangelical and revival movement. In the United States, it ranks as the largest mainline Church, second largest Protestant church. In as of 2008, the membership was about 9 million in the United States and 12 million worldwide. 13 seminaries, 100 2 and 4-year colleges and universities and more than 400 hospitals in the United States are related to The United Methodist Church.

연혁 (History)

1998년 8월 30일에 한인제일감리교회(Korean First Methodist Church)라는 명칭 하에 12명이 가정집에 모여 예배함으로 시작 하였습니다.
2002년 6월에 미연합감리교회(California-Nevada Annual Conference, San Jose District)로 교단을 이전하고 한인제일연합감리교회(Korean First UMC)의 새로운 이름을 갖게 되었습니다.
2008년 8월 계속되는 성장과 갱신 속에서 Cal-Nevada 연회에 Charter되었습니다.
2010년 8월 1일 그린교회로 이름을 변경하였습니다.

제 1대 목사님은 배태진 목사님,
제 2대 목사님은 정인호 목사님,
제 3대 목사님은 정바울 목사님이 시무하셨습니다.
그리고 현재는 2005년 5월에 교단으로부터 파송 받은 윤동현 목사님이 사역하고 계십니다.
 

In August of 1998, a small 12-member congregation formed "Korean First Methodist Church" and began holding worship services in a house on every Sunday. In June of 2002, the church was transferred to the California-Nevada Annual Conference and changed its name to “Korean First UMC”. In August of 2008, the church was chartered by the California-Nevada Annual Conference with its growing and renewal. Rev. Tae-Jin Bae started and led the church at the beginning. Rev. In-ho Jung was appointed as the second pastor. Rev. Paul Jung was appointed as the third pastor. In May of 2005, the California-Nevada Annual Conference appointed Rev. Dong Hyun Yoon as pastor and he serves us to the present. In August of 2010, the church changed its name to “Green UMC”.
